Reynolds Elementary PTO

Dear Professionals,

Schools play a vital role in educating children about smart choices and in providing a supportive environment that enhances and encourages education. However, we know that it takes a team effort to help our children grow to become tomorrow’s professionals.

Our biggest daily challenge is ensuring that children are enthusiastic about what they are learning. As a team, we can help our students overcome their obstacles and help them reach their full potential.

For some of our students, higher education and professional careers are beyond their imagination. We need positive role models! We need professionals who can model for our students the value of education and that through education; they can improve their lives and their future.

The goal of Career Day is to introduce our students to the diverse world of professions. Career Day serves as an opportunity to show our students the variety of possibilities that can be obtained through education and high expectations.

We would like to expose our students to many different types of careers, and on May 19, 2023, we would like to invite you to come to our school and share some of your occupational experiences and share your personal path to success.

Career Day will be on Friday, May 19, 2023, from 8:30 to 10:35. If you wear a specific uniform on the job, please wear it for our students.

If you would like to attend, please R.S.V.P. by calling Reynolds Elementary at 281-891-8246 or emailing me at churtado@springisd.org. We need an exact count of our visitors in order to organize the day successfully.

We would like to thank you in advance for your time and your contribution in enlightening our students.

Sincerely,

Claudia Hurtado

Plan

We want to provide our students with real life experiences in the professional world. Therefore, please bring some promotional or visual materials to decorate your room and make this “Career Day” more realistic. For example, an engineer can have a poster promoting his company while also he will still be illustrating his studies, role and duties as an engineer. If you have a power point presentation please let me know so I can plan accordingly.

8:30 – 9:00 Refreshments and setting up

9:00 – 10:35 Class rotation

Each volunteer will be given a classroom to set up. Volunteers will stay the entire time in the same classroom and the students will be rotating with their respective teachers. Each volunteer will see four classes in total and will present for approximately 20 minutes. Usually it is a 15-minute presentation and the last 5 minutes is designated for students’ questions.

Thank you for making this year's Career Week a valuable experience for our kids!
